Your Frontline Employees Want to Hear From You about COVID-19. Daily

Jun 12, 2020 11:16:19 AM

At a time when there is so much information coming at people, it turns out that you, their employer, are the #1 source for credible COVID-19 information they need to know.

The Edelman Trust Barometer Special Report found that 63% of people rely on their companies for credible info related to COVID 19 – more than the government or the media.

And, they want to hear from you frequently. In fact, more than 60% of employees want to hear from their employers DAILY.

So, can you over communicate right now as an employer? Nope. Definitely not.

Here are 3 tips in communicating COVID-19 related info to your frontline right now:

3+ Times Per Week – If 63% of your employees want daily info, you need to be doing it at least every other day, so 3 times would be the bare minimum.

Mobile First – Your frontline is not sitting in front of a computer. So, your communication HAS to be mobile friendly – text or app based ideally. Email, not so much – 61% of employees occasionally, often or always ignore email at work. That’s especially true with the frontline who typically don’t have a company email account.

Make It Specific – As much as possible, make the communication specific to their particular location and function. Nothing worse than sending a broadcast message to everyone that says you’re providing masks to them when they’re at the location that still doesn’t have them…

When our frontline is relying on us to help them navigate through this crisis, let’s not let them down. Let’s over communicate, let’s do it through the medium they prefer and let’s make it specific to them. And let’s continue to build on that trust that they have in us.
